A passport is a travel document normally issued by the government of any country. A passport certifies the identity and nationality of its holder. It is
primarily used for international travel.
A passport is used for identity purpose to verify the citizenship of a country. A person can regain entry into his country after traveling to foreign land. It can also be used for other identity requirements in the country.
Passport consist of a small booklet. It contains various information about the holder. Bearer’s name, place of birth, date of birth, the date of issue and expiry, passport number, holder’s photo, signature, etc.
There are three types of Indian Passport, which are:
I – Regular Normal Passport is used for ordinary travel of citizens. It has a Navy Blue cover with all details of the holder. It can be used for personal as well as business trips.
II – Diplomatic Passport is used for government diplomats while their travel to foreign countries for official purposes. It has a Maroon cover and also issued to Indian diplomatic couriers.
III – Official Passport is used for government officers for their official international travel. They represent official business. It has a White cover.
